Eberhard Equit is a world renownedmineral artist living in Berlin. He is currently a free-lance graphic artist with a specialty in mineral art. He has self-published two books of his mineral art choosing specimens from over thirty collections to illustrate in his books. Eberhard received his art training in commercial art and scientific illustration. His works are exact representation of the minerals. They are always painted on a scale of 1:1 in extremely fine detail. Eberhard works in watercolor, gouache and tempera using over 200 colors of paint. When painting metallic minerals, he even mixes metals into his paints to get the most realistic effect. He often uses a magnifying glass, measuring different sections and using specially made ultra-fine brushes with as few as a couple of hairs, to get a nearly photographic quality. His attention to detail is extraordinary.
