"Coral Stone" Fossilized Limestone
What is Fossilized Limestone?

“Coral Stone” is a trade-name for Fossilized Limestone. Limestones are a sedimentary rock consisting mainly of calcium carbonate. Limestone comes in many varieties. This type of limestone is highly fossiliferous with calcium rich remains of ancient marine creatures trapped in the sediments of the banks or coral reefs where they once lived. The Fossilized Limestone Candy Dishmatrix cementing these fossils together is composed of the fragments of other fossils that broke up in the surf before the limestone lithified. The types of fossils you can discover in this material include brachiopods, coral, snails, clams and gastropods. These sea creatures from 240 million years ago, in the Mesozoic period, lived between the colliding Sub-continent of Pakistan-India and Asia. The pieces we sell are all fashioned out of a single piece of limestone. The vases have been lathe carved inside and outside and finished with careful polishing.
