Fred Wilda, a world renowned mineral artist living in Western Massachusetts, has been a commercial artist for over 40 years. About 10 years ago, he combined his two passions, art and mineral collecting and thus began a new chapter in his life. In this short time, Fred has developed a following for his work. It has been exhibited at shows throughout the US and in 2004 Fred was “Artist of the Year” at the 41^st Munich Mineral Show (Mineralientage Munchen) in Munich, Germany.

All Fred’s paintings are water color based mixed media. It is not Fred’s intention to render a photographic image of the specimens he paints but to capture their intrinsic beauty. Therefore, Fred will often work with a combination of specimens to capture and achieve the finished painting.  We carry Fred’s limited edition prints (25, 50 or 100 prints available) and have noted each prints number that we sell; i.e. 8/50. We have chosen frames and mattes to compliment the colors in each painting.
