What is Orthoceras?

Check out the gorgeous orthoceras fossils on this plate! These fossils found in Morocco are a unique piece of geologic history that adds a dimension of timelessness to your home or office. These orthoceras fossils are extinct members of the cephalopod class. They were primitive sea creatures related to the squid and octopus. They had a long tubular body with many chambers similar to the chambered nautilus but instead of a coiled shell their shell grew straight. Although now extinct, we get to enjoy what remains of these 345 to 395 millions year old fossils from the Devonian age.
